Notice of Race

 

PSC Spring Series 2007

Racing Area:                       The racing area is the Pamlico River between Government Marker 7 to the west and Government Marker 5 to the east.

 

Race Format:                      Spring series races will include at least two races per day for each day of the series.  Races will be windward-leeward using government marks, privately maintained marks, and inflatable marks as dictated by wind and weather.  Classes will be spinnaker and non-spinnaker.  Classes may be divided into divisions based on number of boats entered.

 

SkipperÕs Meeting:             9:00 AM, Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Captain SamÕs Tiki Bar.

 

Eligibility:                              Any sailing vessel, 20 feet or greater in length having a valid NC-PHRF certificate or having a provisional rating assigned by the race organizers, and whose owner is a paid up member in good standing in the Pamlico Sailing Club may register. 

Important Note
A boat whose owner has not paid the requisite membership dues and Spring Series racing fees at the time the committee boat leaves the dock on a particular race day will be scored DNS for each race conducted on that day.  The DNS is permanent and will not be revised if/when payment is later received.

Late but complete registrations will be accepted at the skipperÕs meeting on March 17th, 2007

Safety:                                  All vessels must comply with USCG safety requirements.  Equipment designed to deal effectively with man overboard situations is strongly recommended as is the wearing of personal flotation devices by each crew.

Racing will be canceled in the event of forecast high below 40¡ F., 11:00 AM temperature below 35¡F., or sustained wind observed or forecast above 25 knots.

Trophies:                              Trophies will be presented to the top 3 finishers in each class with at least 5 boats registered and to the top 2 finishers of each class with less than 5 boats registered.

 

Social:                                   Socials will typically occur after each dayÕs racing and will be announced via website and blast email prior to each race date.
